Korg microKorg 37-Key Analog Modeling Synth with Vocoder
Category: korg monologue
The MICROKORG boasts the same dual-oscillator DSP synthesis engine found in Korg's critically acclaimed MS2000 and offers a wider selection of waveforms than any other modeled synth. Oscillator 1 features a total of 71 waveforms, including traditional analog waves like Saw, Pulse, Sine, and Noise, as well as more unique choices like Vox wave and cross wave. Together, these waveforms provide a cool selection that can be modulated to produce an extensive range of timbres. Additionally, the MICROKORG features 64 exclusive DWGs (Digital Waveform) waveforms from Korg's classic DW-8000, enabling it to reproduce a broad collection of imitative sounds, such as bells, electric pianos, guitars, and basses, which would be difficult to replicate on an analog synthesizer. The user can also apply ring and sync modulation from Oscillator 2 to create the kind of complex timbres that are the true sign of an advanced synthesizer.
The MICROKORG offers four filter modes, including a -12 dB (2-pole) low pass, high pass, and band pass configurations, as well as an extra steep -24 dB (4-pole) low pass setting, all with resonance. Two classic ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) envelope generators and two MIDI-syncable LFOs (Low-Frequency Oscillators) provide the power to shape the user's sounds. Furthermore, the MICROKORG's virtual patch matrix allows for the creation of advanced modulation settings, enabling the user to route the Mod wheel to control filter cutoff or pulse width, or use an LFO to control panning or amp level, providing performance that is unheard of from a synthesizer in this price range.
The MICROKORG's audio inputs include AUDIO IN 1 and 2, with a level switch for LINE/MIC, and the AUDIO IN 2 (MIC) input. The synthesizer is a multi-timbral instrument, with a maximum of 2 voices in Split/Dual Mode, and it can produce 4 voices. It is powered by a DC 9V adapter or six AA alkaline batteries (sold separately). The MICROKORG also features an Arpeggiator with 6 different types, and its outputs include L/MONO, R, and Headphones.
In terms of compatibility, the MICROKORG is supported on Windows 98 Second Edition, Me, 2000 SP2, and XP, as well as on Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.
